Welcome to the online home of Writing Orkney! This organisation is the successor to The George Mackay Brown Fellowship. Please bear with us till we have fully changed over the website. In the meantime, you can still find all the past activities of the GMB Fellowship in the following pages.
There are details of writing groups, publications, and other activities – including collaborations and events held as part of the George Mackay Brown Centenary in 2021-2022. Many of the publications are still available and our writing group activities have switched umbrellas and now come under Writing Orkney.
You can watch podcasts containing talks given by a variety of writers, hear new music inspired by new writing, and read new poems and prose.
