The George Mackay Brown Fellowship runs two writing groups which meet regularly throughout the year. Participants enjoy writing together and the support and stimulus of working with other writers.
Wirdsmit is a group for young writers aged 8-15 led by Gaby Barnby and Orkney Voices is a group for Orkney language writers led by Alison Miller. Occasionally guest writers are invited to deliver writing workshops. The groups have regularly worked in partnership with other organisations in Orkney, contributing to events and sharing their work.
The Fellowship organises occasional renga sessions in which participants meet and collaborate on a group poem based on the Japanese renku form.
