GMB Centenary 2021 at Orkney Museum

Orkney Museum’s summer exhibition is open and runs until the end of October, celebrating the centenary of the birth of George Mackay Brown.

You can read the Museum blog about the writer, written by Exhibitions Officer and storyteller Tom Muir here: GMB#100

A message from Tom Muir, Exhibitions Officer at Orkney Museum

I am happy to say that the summer 2021 exhibition is up and ready to go. It is a celebration of the poet and writer, George Mackay Brown, whose centenary year this is.

Normally summer exhibitions run from May-September, but this year we have given artists a bit more time, due to a restriction on visitor numbers. Also, George’s 100th birthday is on the 17th October, so if we closed it at the end of September we’d miss the event it is celebrating.

Imagine the outrage on social media!!! I hope you enjoy it and I will try to get it on our blog later in the year.
